Mazda AZ-Wagon - a small car, which is an analogue of the Suzuki Wagon R. Mazda releases its version by mutual agreement with Suzuki. The exterior and interior of both cars are almost identical. The dimensions of the car correspond to the A – class, and the high roof provides a large capacity of the passenger compartment. The car is a five-door hatchback. Mazda AZ-Wagon belongs to the key-car type common in Japan. In 2008, sales of the fourth generation started, which continued until 2012, when it was replaced by the Mazda Flair. In Mazda AZ-Wagon, the design of the headlights, bumper and radiator grille has changed. Only a low-power version of the 0.7-liter engine was installed on the hatchback.
Mazda AZ-Wagon was supplied to the domestic Japanese market, as well as to a number of Asian countries: India, Pakistan. In Europe, a similar car was going under the brand name Opel Agila. The car is notable for its unusual dimensions: compact length and width, but great height. The dimensions of the Japanese kei car are as follows: length - 3395 mm, width - 1475 mm, height - 1660 mm. Thanks to the design features, in particular the small hood, the hatchback has a cabin that is ahead of some C-class sedans in spaciousness. Helps to increase the size of the cabin and the vertical arrangement of the luggage compartment. Kay-car is designed to transport four people for whom there is enough space for height and length of legs. The car has a clearance of 155 mm, but the design features and low motor power make it suitable exclusively for trips around the city.

Kay-car is offered with two types of gasoline engines: a 0.7-liter with a capacity of 54 hp. either 64 hp (turbocharged). In the combined cycle, the Mazda AZ-Wagon consumes 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers, and the fuel tank holds 30 liters of fuel. Three types of gearboxes were installed on the car: four-speed manual, five-speed automatic and robot. The car was produced with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (while the rear axle could be turned off). The undercarriage of the Japanese development includes a suspension consisting of a suspension strut in front and a dependent multi-link transmission at the rear. Mazda AZ-Wagon brakes consist of rear mounted ventilated disc and drum brakes. Mazda AZ-Wagon is available in the following trim levels: XG, XS, XF, Custom Style XS, XS special, XS Limited and XT. Some modifications are fully consistent with the Suzuki Wagon R. So the Custom Style XS is an absolute copy of the Stingray. The only difference is the insert in the central part of the grille.

The range of options offered to customers by Mazda is as follows: power steering, front fog lights, UV protection glazing, power windows, air conditioning, CD audio system. The safety of the driver and front passenger in the Mazda AZ-Wagon is provided by airbags. Also in the car there are auxiliary control systems and driver assistance when driving: anti-lock braking system (ABS), auxiliary braking system (BAS). The engine can be started with a button that replaces the ignition key. To protect against theft, the hatchback is equipped with an anti-theft system and an alarm system.
