In the 90s of the last century, Mazda set itself the task of dramatically expanding the sales network of its machines. As part of this project, many models and modifications of the Capella / Cronos family were released. But besides this, work on the MX-6 project, that is, a two-door car from the specialty car category, acquired no less importance. Perhaps, of all models of the Mazda brand, only in this model was the two-door coupe type demanded. One can almost with full confidence say that the choice of this style for a 4-seater car is an attempt to stylize “for America”. As evidence of the validity of such a narrowing, one can point out the elongated proportions of the machine, as well as the presence of sharp corners of the side windows.
The engine is only 6-cylinder, but the displacement could be different: either 2 or 2.5 liters. It had such high-speed characteristics that it was just right to put it on an Alfa Romeo car. At least, many called and call this car "Japanese-made Alfa Romeo." The car had only front-wheel drive. However, all 4 wheels could be steered. Regardless of engine size, the buyer could order a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. In addition, it was proposed to install a wide variety of equipment, including the Bose speaker system.
