Sedan
In 1999, instead of the Debonair model, Mitsubishi launched a new flagship sedan called the Mitsubishi Dignity. The car is based on the Proudia model, which also belongs to luxury cars. In fact, Mitsubishi Dignity is Proudia, elongated by 28.5 centimeters. Hyundai took part in the development of the car, which released it as the Hyundai Equus, which became commercially more successful than its competitor, despite the fact that 80% of all nodes of both models are identical. Mitsubishi Dignity was produced until 2001, after which the production of new cars of this model was postponed for 11 years. This was due to the fact that the car was not popular - only 59 cars were produced in three years, and only 48 cars were sold during this period. And the manufacturer’s financial difficulties only accelerated the rejection of its further release.

Mitsubishi Dignity was positioned as a competitor to Nissan President and Toyota Century. But unlike them, Mitsubishi launched its front-wheel-drive luxury sedan, continuing the idea of front-wheel-drive luxury cars launched on the second-generation Mitsubishi Debonair.

Compared with Mitsubishi Debonair and Mitsubishi Praudia, the new sedan has grown significantly: the length of the new items is 5335 mm, width - 1870 mm, height - 1485 mm. The wheelbase of the limousine is 3080 mm, and the clearance is 150 mm. Air suspension allows you to increase ground clearance by 30 mm (at speeds below 70 km / h) or 50 mm. Despite its impressive size, the car is designed to fit only four passengers, allowing you to feel the maximum comfort and ease of landing. Salon in comparison with the Mitsubishi Proudia grew by 25 centimeters, providing a huge legroom for rear passengers. Under the front passenger seat is the rear footrest.

Mitsubishi Dignity sedan was produced only with a gasoline engine V8 4. 5 (280 horsepower) with a maximum torque of 412 N * m. Despite the presence of a large-capacity engine, the maximum speed is low - the limiter fixes it at around 180 km / h. A set of hundreds from a standstill occurs in 8.2 seconds. On vehicles, direct fuel injection was available, which reduces fuel consumption. In the city, the Mitsubishi Dignity sedan consumes 12.8 liters of fuel, and 6.2 on the highway. The fuel tank capacity is 80 liters. When developing the engine, much attention was paid to noise insulation: therefore, a special wrapper of the fuel supply pipes and aluminum oil sumps were used.

A five-speed automatic gearbox was installed on the sedan. The front suspension of the car is a McPherson suspension strut with a stabilizer, and the rear suspension is a multi-link. The air suspension has the ability to electronically control the shock absorbers. The machine has ventilated disc brakes.

The only vehicle equipment includes xenon headlights, front fog lights, power steering, leather steering wheel brace, steering column adjustment for reach and height, power windows, child seat mounts, cassette player and dual-zone climate control. Glasses protect from ultraviolet rays. Leather seats are installed in the interior, while the interior trim includes decorative wood trim. Armrests are installed between the seats of each row. All seats are equipped with headrests and electric.

Safety in the cabin is provided by side and front airbags, seat belts and stiffeners in the doors. To help the driver, adaptive cruise control is installed, which is included on the basis of lidar technology, traction control (TCS), a blind spot monitoring system and cameras that control neighboring lanes.
