The Mitsubishi Town Box model appeared in 1999 as a representative of the “key car” class, but featuring a large usable interior space. After a number of improvements (the first significant changes took place back in 2000), December 2007 was marked by another redesign of the model, which was to increase its attractiveness in the eyes of Japanese buyers. The appearance was ennobled by a completely new front end, the car has a new design of rims, etc. e. A bit later there were serious changes in the interior. The Town Box is driven by the familiar 3G83 powertrain (3-cylinder SOHC) in atmospheric (48 hp) or turbocharged (64 hp) versions.
In the Mitsubishi Town Box interior, the changes for the 2008 model year were mostly cosmetic: the dashboard became two-tone, an upholstery with water-repellent properties appeared, and the leather steering wheel was equipped with an RX. Improved qualities have versions of the Exceed Package. More significant changes occurred at the end of 2009. The car has a completely new design of the instrument panel with vertical air deflectors, built-in cup holders on both sides, and an upward-facing console for a full-time audio device (new CD player with AM / FM tuner, enlarged display and AUX connector) or navigation system. The performance in the form of a camper van, which appeared in August 2010, deserves special attention - such a Town Box is a small house on wheels, with seats forming a completely flat sleeping place 1300x1830 mm in size, the ceiling rising upward, making it possible to stand up to its full height, and with an insect net. Optionally, the car was equipped with galley consoles (sink and cabinet-table), in this case, the sleeping width was reduced to 880 mm. An auxiliary battery and a 300-watt 100-volt AC converter were installed.

After the second restyling, the Mitsubishi Town Box was equipped with a 3G83 3-cylinder SOHC 12-valve engine, which was produced in the atmospheric version and with turbocharging. In the first case, the maximum power is 48 horsepower (at 6000 rpm), and the torque reaches a value of 62 Nm (at 4000 rpm). The turbocharged engine has a maximum return of 64 “forces”, which are achieved at 6000 rpm, and the torque is 86 Nm (at 3000 rpm). Regardless of the engine, the Town Box can be rear- or all-wheel drive. In 2008, a 5-speed manual gearbox was canceled and the car is equipped with only a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The suspension of the Mitsubishi Town Box is structurally very simple: front independent, rear dependent, both spring, guaranteeing a completely comfortable ride. Brakes - disc front and drum rear. Steering - with hydraulic booster. Recall that due to the fact that the wheels of the Town Box are located in the very corners (with a minimum overhang), it has a wheelbase typical for small cars - its size is 2390 mm, which is exactly 5 cm larger than the Minica and Toppo BJ, which, coupled with the optimal use of the internal space, gives a gain in the size of the cabin. Its maximum length at the Town Box late release is declared by the manufacturer in 1885-1910 mm. The rear seats fold down, allowing you to get a large trunk with a flat floor. If you remove the head restraints of the front seats, you can fold their backs flush with the surface of the rear seat cushion.

Mitsubishi Town Box 2007-2011 is standardly equipped with driver and passenger airbags, three-point belts (with a reminder to fasten for the driver), and side impact protection amplifiers in the doors. An anti-lock brake system was offered as an option. The front of the body has increased safety indicators due to the fact that the car is a one-compartment with a semi-hood layout.

The box-like appearance of the Mitsubishi Town Box is very practical to use. Low located thresholds are convenient for landing and disembarking. The thoughtful design of the front and rear seats makes the cabin comfortable. Pluses are roominess, maneuverability and dynamics (with a turbo engine). There are also disadvantages: the car is light and unstable on the highway, rather weak with the atmospheric engine. Additional changes have extended the life of the Mitsubishi Town Box and its OEM counterpart Nissan Clipper Rio for a few more years. However, the car did not receive a direct heir. The next model, released in 2014 under the same name, is an OEM version of the Suzuki Every Wagon.
