Hatchback
A model that has been a bestseller for some time. Made on the basis of the March 11th model car, the car had a cubic body equipped with five doors. Included in the group of so-called "high" passenger station wagons. In this group, among all its competitors with a height of more than 1600 mm, Cube achieved the highest results. Characteristic features: a cubic body shape justifying the name, emphasizing the compactness of the car, a rather modest front view, more than an acceptable selling price. This is one of the essential reasons for success. The Nissan Cube interior is perceived as quite spacious, but this is not surprising with such proportions. Engines are only 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engines. Initially, the car was produced only with a 4-speed automatic transmission or CVT variator. But then there were modifications equipped with the Hyper CVT-M6 system with a 6-speed manual mode. Inside, the Nissan Cube boasts an enviable amount of interior space. A decent supply of space in the shoulders and over the head, and even the rear passengers are not too cramped. The seats are set high, with a typical bus landing - this gives excellent visibility in all directions. And due to the fact that the sides and the back door are almost vertical, the layout of the cabin and trunk can be considered almost perfect. The gear lever is located here on the steering column. The ability to move and unfold the seats, in turn, allows for a free transfer from chair to chair without leaving the cabin (“walk through”). A large number of places for storing small items are striking. As standard, the F car already has air conditioning and an adjustable steering column. Version S will add power accessories and central locking. The top version of the X features a leather steering wheel, standard alloy wheels R14 and other equipment. A special position in the model line is occupied by the Rider (“Horseman”) equipment. The appearance of this machine was finalized by a subsidiary of Autech Japan. Special configurations like the “Yellow version” from Autech with standard “foglights” and an optional sunroof, or Premium with a leather interior and wooden inserts deserve attention. The first generation Nissan Cube in the first phase of production (1999-2000) was equipped with two engines. Both have a working volume of 1.3 liters, but differ slightly in terms of cubic centimeters (1274 and 1348 cc, respectively). A smaller CG13DE engine with a return of 82 “forces” was offered from the beginning of the production of the model until October 1999, when it was replaced by the 85-horsepower CGA3DE. A less powerful motor provided only front-wheel drive in two versions (automatic or CVT). With the new engine, there were three modifications - two front-wheel drive and one all-wheel drive (only with a variator). Both engines use AI-92, AI-95 brand gas equally. Its consumption is 6.1-6.5 l / 100 km. And with the new Hyper CVT-M6 transmission, consumption has further decreased by about 10% (to 5.8 l / 100 km). A good power reserve guarantees a decent fuel tank capacity of 42 liters.

Like the second-generation Nissan March (K11) hatchback, the Nissan Cube (Z10) has independent front and rear semi-independent suspensions, but the all-wheel drive version also has independent rear suspension. The two-wheel drive is equipped with a gear-rack type steering with hydraulic booster, front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. The dimensions of the body are as follows: length - 3750 mm, width - 1610 mm, height - 1625 mm. The wheelbase has the same size as March, 2360 mm. A minimum turning radius of 4.8-5 m allows the Nissan Cube to easily deploy in a narrow space. The car is equipped with tires 165 / 70R13 or 175 / 60R14. Ground clearance - 135-145 mm. Nissan Cube has a roomy luggage compartment, which makes it convenient for both everyday trips and leisure. The incorporated transformation capabilities allow not only folding the back seat in parts, but also moving the back of the front passenger seat to a horizontal position (for transporting long items).

The first generation Nissan Cube is well prepared in terms of safety. The standard equipment includes two airbags (driver and front passenger), anti-lock brakes, seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters. The Nissan Cube body has programmed deformation zones and door stiffeners.

The first generation Nissan Cube is generally considered one of the best compact models with increased capacity. The Cube successfully competed with such machines as the Suzuki Wagon R, MMC Dingo, etc. In addition to its compact size, it has a decent ground clearance and a quite comfortable suspension, although a high body imposes its limitations on reactions. The machine is distinguished by high quality production, engine reliability. However, there are also disadvantages. The bodies are prone to corrosion, there are problems with the reliability of the variator.
