The Impreza, which began production in 1992, is a relative of the Legacy, which has gained immense popularity around the world. However, the Legacy is oversized and oversized to compete in rally racing. Therefore, specifically for the WRC, the Impreza model was developed in the all-wheel drive WRX modification. In 1994, the WRX STi package began its existence, which later became a cult. At this time, the maximum power of this version of the Impreza was already 275 hp. at 32.5 kg / m of torque, but this figure did not mean the termination of further development and improvement of the car. In 1996, there were plans to make the Subaru Impreza WRX the most powerful car in the then Japan with a 280-horsepower engine. This was successfully implemented: after a partial modernization, the power of the Impreza WRX STi increased to 280 hp, and the torque - to 35.0 kg / m. This car is equipped with Quick Shift and Quick Steering systems. A year later (in 1997), the torque was increased to 36.0 kg / m, the car was equipped with disc brakes, and the driving characteristics were improved. A little later, the STi equipment, created on the basis of the first generation Impreza WRX, continued its development, and in 1998 the V series was released, equipped with a new suspension and a sports ABS system, and in 1999 - the VI series, which has excellent aerodynamic performance and was supplemented by cast wheel discs with a diameter of 16 inches. The latest versions of the model have achieved immense popularity.
The Impreza WRX is a model that appeared in 1992 and which, according to the creators' plan, was supposed to become the basic car for participating in rally competitions. There are different categories in the Impreza station wagon range, but the Impreza WRX is definitely the top one.
If you look closely, you will notice: everything that is located to the rear door is borrowed from the sedan of the same name. This is followed by the wide large side windows of the luggage compartment. Thus, in terms of body style, this is a slightly elongated 5-door hatchback. Recently, in Japan, models with a 5-door body are not very much favored, therefore, apparently, there is a certain "European" bias in the design of the car. Thus, the developers tried not to miss their chance in the European market, where 5-door station wagons are still doing well.

Judging by the catalog, the station wagon was equipped with an engine of less power than the sedan. But if we take the STi package, which began to be produced in 1994, then both the sedan and the station wagon are characterized by the same power of their engines, moreover, considerable.
