The Subaru Outback is a vehicle with the looks and capabilities of an SUV. Compared to the Legacy Touring Wagon on which the Outback is built, the latter is 40 mm wider and 70 mm taller and overall gives the impression of a more powerful and uncompromising car. For the domestic Japanese market, the Subaru Outback was produced with two types of power plants. The base unit is a 2.5-liter horizontally opposed unit (170 hp) in combination with a variator. The top engine in the lineup was a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder "boxer" (260 hp) with a five-speed "automatic".
Inside, the BR generation Outback has a modern interior with an excellent design, a choice of different color combinations, there is leather, the driver's seat has 8 electric adjustments (in the version with a 3.6 liter engine, the front passenger seat adjustments are also added). However, the savings are noticeable: only the door panels are finished with leather on top and soft along the top layer, while the lower perimeter of the front and door panels is made of hard plastic. But we can note the excellent level of equipment and technology on board: multifunction steering wheel, SI-DRIVE system, steering wheel switches, parking brake with a button, separate climate control system, navigation, sunroof and more. The rear passengers will be satisfied - they have enough legroom and overhead, there is an adjustment of the backrest tilt.
The base powerplant on this model is similar to that on the Touring Wagon and the B4, a 2.5-liter SOHC horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. Transmission - CVT Lineartronic. Also, a 3.6-liter DOHC engine can be installed exclusively on this model. This engine differs not only in its powerful torque from the very bottom, but also in its relatively economical consumption when using regular gasoline. Mileage per liter of fuel - up to 10 kilometers (in 10/15 mode). The economy indicator of the basic version is 13.2 km / l. Both engines are considered to be quite reliable. But experts recommend that you be more careful about the state of the cooling system (one of the diseases is the tendency to overheat) and not save on lubrication.
