The history of the Subaru XV begins in 2011, when the company introduced a new concept car based on the Impreza, the production of which began in 2012. Restyled version of Subaru XV shows slight changes in appearance. As usual, this affected the design of the headlights, front bumper, radiator grille and rims. However, in general, the crossover began to look more impressive. This is noticeable in the details: the hawk-eye headlights, the trim of the fog lamp sections, the LED elements in the taillights, the enlarged rear spoiler, which better cuts out the dirt that gets on the rear window while driving. Changes in the cabin include better materials, orange (instead of white) stitching of the seats, a new infotainment system with a 7 "display, a new color driver information display. mechanics-variator. If we talk about the standard equipment, then there are xenon headlights, fog lights, headlight washers, heated mirrors. In the interior: tilt and reach steering column, dividing armrest, heated front seats, gear lever with decorative stitching, climate control with dust filter, power accessories (glass, mirrors), infotainment system with color touch display, 6 speakers, rear view camera. More expensive configurations will offer folding mirrors, chrome door handles, a leather steering wheel, leather upholstery, aluminum pedals, a start button, an electric driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, an additional USB port for connecting external devices, a navigation system and much more. The two-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine produces 150 hp. and can be equipped with a "mechanics" (here it is 6-speed) or a variator, the latter is equipped with a manual mode with fixed pseudo-gears and control using paddle shifters. Acceleration time to "hundreds" - 10.5 and 10.7 seconds. , the maximum speed is 187 km / h. Fuel efficiency has improved. In the urban cycle, it is 9.6 l / 100 km for the "mechanics" and 9.1 l / 100 km for the variator. Outside the city - 6.1 and 5.7 l / 100 km, respectively. Average consumption - 7.1 and 7 l / 100 km.

In terms of the chassis, the car does not fundamentally differ from the "Impreza" - the design is the same (MacPherson strut in front and a double-lever in the rear), but the suspension has been significantly modified taking into account the increased ground clearance, a higher center of gravity of the Subaru XV and other differences. All this made it possible to endow the crossover with handling characteristics comparable to a conventional passenger car. Subaru XV is equipped as standard with electric booster, disc brakes (front ventilated). Cars with a variator have their own symmetric all-wheel drive scheme - with active torque distribution, while for cars with mechanics, a version with an center differential and a locking viscous coupling is implemented. Experts note that the restyled Subaru XV has made a small step forward in handling and dynamics. The steering wheel has become a little sharper and more informative, the variator after the update demonstrates even greater fuel economy and impeccable dynamics. Good results have been achieved in improving ride comfort and sound insulation. The XV's body is stiffer and stronger thanks to the increased use of high-strength steels. Of the security systems, the standard equipment of the basic version includes front airbags (driver and front passenger), side airbags, curtain airbags, ISOFIX mounts, belt tensioners. The set of active systems includes ABS, EBD, auxiliary braking systems, directional stability, hill assist, cruise control, rain and light sensors. The car received a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP.
