In 2006, Suzuki at the Geneva Motor Show introduced the Suzuki SX4, whose full name was Sport Crossover 4x4 Seasons. The car combines freedom of movement both in the city and in the countryside in any weather and any time of the year with the convenience of a compact hatchback. The sports form of the body, the perky “triangles” of the windows between the front doors and the windshield, as well as the characteristic contours of the body create a feeling of genuine sportiness. Off-road features of the SX4 are emphasized by the presence of protective moldings on the doors and sills, additional linings on the front and rear bumpers and wheel arch extensions. On March 22, 2010, Suzuki introduced the updated SX4 hatchback. External modifications touched the design of the front bumper (only for models of the Hungarian assembly) and the radiator grill, as well as the new 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/60 R16 rubber. The car received a more powerful engine (112 hp). The intelligent i-AWD all-wheel drive system is an option now available with the “automatic” (previously, with front-wheel drive only front-wheel drive was offered).
The interior design of the Suzuki SX4 has undergone changes in the design of the front console, climate control unit and instrument panel, in the center of which is located the information display of the on-board computer with the necessary information on the way. Salon materials have also improved. In particular, comfortable soft linings appeared on the door armrests, and door handles in some kmpectations received stylish chrome inserts. The rich basic equipment of the SX4 includes: roof rails, power windows and heated mirrors, air conditioning, built-in audio system with steering wheel controls and MP3 support, heated front seats, immobilizer and other equipment. The front suspension of the Suzuki SX4 is an independent, McPherson strut suspension strut. The rear suspension is semi-independent, torsion beam. The car has an electric power steering. Updated SX4 eliminated drum brakes - rear disc now. Being, in fact, a unique combination of a hatchback and a small SUV, Suzuki SX4 with a length of 4.15 m is characterized as a compact city car, which gives the advantage of its use in a metropolis. Compared to the standard hatchback, the all-wheel drive cross-version has increased clearance from 175 to 190 mm. The total width of 1.76 m, characteristic of the average car class "C", and a height of 1.61 m, correlated with the average MPV, allowed the SX4 passengers to allocate significant internal space. The rear seats are located slightly higher than the front, providing rear passengers with improved visibility and large legroom. The backrests, folding in a ratio of 60:40, allow you to increase the volume of the luggage compartment from the standard 270 liters to 1045 liters.
The high level of torsional and bending rigidity of the body, as well as the durable power elements of the interior, ensure the Suzuki SX4 high driving performance and increased safety. In the presence of a safety pedal assembly, children's locks on the rear doors, a manual headlight range control. As standard, the hatchback has ABS (anti-lock braking system, which helps to avoid wheel lock during sudden braking or when braking on slippery roads), complemented by electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency braking assistance (BAS). For a surcharge, the car could be equipped with an electronic stabilization system (ESP), which helps the driver maintain control of the car in difficult traffic situations. The updated Suzuki SX4 hatchback, in addition to all-wheel drive (a rarity in the class), offers excellent equipment and many other advantages: a spacious interior, a roomy trunk, high ground clearance, modern means of active and passive safety. Engines, transmission and suspension are quite reliable. Among the shortcomings of the model are often called problems with the generator (it is low located and insufficiently protected from water and dirt), expensive parts, poor insulation, visibility problems (wide forked front struts interfere with side view).
