The first Toyota Carina ED, called the lowest-seated 4-door sedan in the world, appeared in 1985. Over its long life, this car has won a special middle-class hardtop market. The abbreviation ED arose from the first letters of the English words exciting and dressy, which means "exciting" and "luxurious."
In 1989, the second generation of the model took over. The initial concept of the first generation has been improved and has received recognition from the consumer. Toyota Carina ED is equipped with three types of engines: a 1.8-liter hi-mech twin-cam, a 2-liter hi-mech twin-cam and a 2-liter sport twin-cam. The car is equipped with front-wheel drive. Toyota Carina ED is equipped with an advanced dual-mode 4WS system, which was used for the first time in world practice.
