In 1993, Toyota Corolla was restyled in the Japanese domestic market. The design of the radiator grille and bumper, rear combined lamps was changed, new body colors appeared, the composition of the complete sets was revised. It should be noted that the car was produced in a difficult period coinciding with the recession, therefore, to reduce costs and unify Corolla lost some of the interesting options found on cars of the first phase of production. The aggregate line of the updated Corolla sedan series includes petrol 16-valve engines with a volume of 1.3-1.6 liters, a powerful 1.6-liter DOHC20 4A-GE series, as well as a 2.0-liter diesel engine.
Releasing a restyled version, the company decided to do with minimal changes in the interior. At the same time, as already mentioned, the car lost a number of "bells and whistles", for example, there was no combination of devices with a digital speedometer and electric driver's seat, the presence of which the well-equipped version of the SE-G could previously boast. However, buyers of the sedan in above-average trim levels are still not deprived: power windows for controlling windows and door locks, a central lock with a remote key, height adjustment for the driver's seat, front and rear armrests, pockets on the backs of the front seats, auto-adjusting air conditioning, full-time 4-speaker audio system with CD player, etc. e. In simple versions of DX, only the most necessary equipment was installed; these machines had mainly commercial purposes.

A rich range of engines is still offered for the sedan. The models were simpler equipped with a 16-valve DOHC series 4E-FE (1.3 L), its power was reduced from 100 hp. up to 97 hp Buyers could also opt for a 1.5-liter 5A-FE (105 hp), or a 1.6-liter 115-horsepower 4A-FE, including with a 4WD system. A 1.6-liter 4A-GE with a 5-valve VVT mechanism was installed on GT sports modifications - in this generation, the power of this version increased to 160 hp. Toyota Corolla also installed a two-liter 2C-III diesel engine rated at 73 hp. with a rather modest fuel consumption of 4 liters per 100 km. However, while gasoline “Toyota” engines of those years are highly reliable, a diesel engine is characterized by a number of drawbacks that worsen under improper operation and are mainly associated with overheating and cracks in the head of the unit. The Toyota Corolla E100 chassis with independent front and rear wheel suspension (McPherson strut) has been re-designed with a focus on safety - improved stability and handling at high speeds. All-wheel drive models use the Full Time 4WD system, while on models with "mechanics" in severe conditions, you can force the center differential to be blocked by pressing the C button. DIFF.LOCK on the front panel. In models with automatic transmission, the C.DIFF.AUTO button is installed, when pressed, the blocking coefficient changes automatically depending on the road conditions and the position of the transmission selector. The Corolla E100 has rack and pinion steering with power steering, ventilated front disc brakes, rear drum brakes and disc brakes are installed in GT sports models. Sedan body dimensions: 4275 x 1685 x 1395 mm (L x W x H). Corolla received a fairly spacious interior for its class, its dimensions: 1820 x 1420 x 1155 mm. The GT models have a folding rear seat (60:40).

Of the safety features, Toyota Corolla E100 can offer three-point belts, door stiffeners, optional driver airbags and ABS. Compared to the previous generation, the level of passive safety has increased. For example, a crash test conducted in 1993 showed a more than twofold decrease in the HIC, which assesses the severity of damage to the driver's head and front passenger at the time of overload on impact. Significantly decreased and the load on the legs.

For its time, the "hundredth" Corolla has a pretty good option. The suspension is short-stroke, but rather energy-intensive. We note the high quality of materials, and in general - the legendary reliability and endurance of this model. Despite its venerable age, the "hundredth" Toyota Corolla is also quoted after more than two decades, especially specimens that, by chance, have remained in the only caring hands or can boast a relatively low mileage.
In 1993, the Toyota Corolla was restyled. Corolla Wagon models received minor external cosmetic changes, including a new design grille and bumper; the range of body colors was updated, the composition of the trim levels was revised. Touring Wagon passenger station wagons include two classes: the standard version of L touring and the more advanced G touring. Being focused on lovers of long family trips, they are equipped with sufficient power (105 l. c.) 16-valve petrol engine of 1.5 liters.
In the maximum configuration of the G Touring, the Corolla Touring Wagon station wagon is equipped with a rear spoiler, roof rails, a fully adjustable driver's seat and a fully functional dashboard, standard equipment includes a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, an electric drive for windows of doors and locks, electric mirrors with folding function. The top version also installed air conditioning with automatic maintenance of the set temperature, and the L Touring model, which used to offer manual air conditioning and only as an option, now received it as standard equipment. Alloy wheels and fog lights were available for both models at a surcharge. In August 1993, a special G Touring Limited model with improved equipment went on sale. Under the hood of the Corolla Touring Wagon (1993-1995) is a 105-horsepower gasoline engine with two camshafts and a 16-valve gas distribution mechanism (DOHC), which is quite responsive and economical. The station wagon is still available only in front-wheel drive, but there is a choice of a mechanical (5MT) or automatic (4AT) gearbox. Depending on the transmission, fuel consumption is 6.2 liters or 7.8 liters per 100 km in 10/15 mode.  The Corolla Touring Wagon E100 has a completely independent suspension system (suspension strut like MacPherson strut). All station wagons have a gear-rack steering, power steering is included in the standard equipment. Combined type brakes (front disc, rear drum) are both efficient, simple and reliable. External body dimensions: length 4260-4270 mm, width 1685, height 1435-1450 mm. Wheelbase 2465 mm. The turning radius of 4.8 meters. Interior dimensions: 1785 x 1420 x 1185 mm (L x W x H). The roomy Touring Wagon trunk is more than doubled if you fold the back of the back sofa (divided by 60:40). The luggage compartment closes the curtain, which does not take up much space when removed.

The Corolla Touring Wagon model has a safe body with protective bars in the doors, an additional brake light, three-point side belts in the rear seats and an indication lamp for an unfastened driver’s belt. The car was also equipped with a driver's airbag; a special child seat could be installed. The G Touring Wagon is equipped with an ABS anti-lock braking system.

"Corolla" Corolla became the undoubted success of Toyota. Touring Wagon models were highly regarded for their comfort and great looks. In the right-hand drive segment, these cars have long been considered almost an example of reliability, maintainability and that of endurance in general. But this does not negate the large number of frankly "tired" machines that may require additional investment. Corolla Touring Wagon became more interesting after the second restyling (May 1995), when the lineup was replenished with new modifications previously available only for the sedan.
