FJ Cruiser - no less than the reincarnation of the already legendary all-terrain vehicle of the fortieth series, produced in the 60-80s of the last century. Hence the name - FJ - from the equally famous gasoline engines of the F series and the capital letter of the word Jeep, firmly entrenched in the names of Toyota SUVs.
The model was created for the American market - in spite of the popular Hummer H 2 and H 3 there. Therefore, in the United States, the car made its debut back in 2006, reaching Japan only four years later. The recipe for its construction is simple. The shortened frame from 4Runner / Surf / Prado SUVs, the front double wishbone suspension from them, an integral rear beam, a 5-speed “automatic” and the most powerful in the range of V 6 4.0 liters. Only the all-wheel drive system was stopped - instead of Full Time, and even with various modes, they left Part Time without an interaxle differential and with a hard connection of the front axle. But still with a lowering range.
The exterior, quite in keeping with the spirit of the ancestor, is complemented by the same retro interior - functional, but created from inexpensive materials. And perhaps the most spectacular detail is the rear half doors opening up against the move. Behind them, however, is almost a compartment of cramped spaces, which, fortunately, left a place for a fairly spacious trunk.
