Restyling of the fourth-generation Toyota Starlet came in January 1992. Modernization of the appearance includes a changed front: a new radiator grill and a bumper with fog lights. The composition of some trim levels was revised, the dashboard was changed, and safety was improved. All Starlet gasoline engines have been equipped with an injection system since 1992. The division into bodies continued: in the “three-door” lineup, in addition to simple versions, there were sports and GT modifications, the latter were equipped with a 135-horsepower turbo engine. The cheapest version of the three-door hatchback is the Soleil version, it included a radio and one speaker, manual power windows and simple mirrors, and fog lights and a rear wiper appeared on the list of options. Options Soleil L as additional equipment offered power windows and central locking, plastic moldings on the sides, wheels with half caps. The sportiness was complemented by the S and Gi trim levels: foglights, a rear spoiler, a leather steering wheel braid, full-time stabilizers in the suspension and equipment close to full-featured: alloy wheels, a radio, standard electric mirrors and power windows, an adjustable steering column, a tachometer in the dashboard, a radio, folding in parts, rear seat, optional sunroof. In addition to the turbo engine, the Starlet GT “lighter” is distinguished by even more sporting details, including low-profile tires 185 / 55R14, a three-spoke steering wheel with tilt adjustment and sports front seats, GT emblems on the radiator grille, rear door trim and steering wheel. Additional improvements to the configuration Soleil L marked the release of special series in 1993. Models with a canvas top (Canvas top) were produced until 1994.  All petrol modifications of the Toyota Starlet 1992-1994 are equipped with 4E-FE injection engines - a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine with two camshafts (DOHC 16V) produces a maximum power of 100 hp. in front-wheel drive modifications and 97 hp in all-wheel drive versions. Apart, of course, are the GT modifications, which have an intercooled turbocharged engine (4E-FTE), which produces an impressive 135 “forces”. On the hatchback, a diesel engine of the 1N series (1.5 L) with a capacity of 55 hp continues to be installed. Simple models were equipped with a 4-speed "mechanics" or a 3-speed "automatic", more powerful and expensive, respectively, received a 5MT or 4AT gearbox.

Toyota Starlet P80 has MacPherson strut independent front suspension, semi-torsion rear suspension. All-wheel drive cars receive a continuous beam of the rear axle with other springs and shock absorbers. The fourth-generation Starlet had four-wheel disc brakes, but they only got the three-door GT model, the rest are content with the traditional design with ventilated disc brakes on the front wheels and drum brakes on the rear. After restyling, the length of the body slightly increased (up to 3740 mm) due to a different bumper shape, for the GT model it now reaches 3805 mm, the width of the hatchback is 1600-1620 mm, and the height is 1380 mm. The wheelbase has a size of 2300tmm, the turning radius is 4.3-4.5 meters, which allows Starlet to turn around on a small patch, but the GT has increased it to 4.7 m due to new wheels. The hatchback has a load capacity of 300 kg. Interior dimensions are as follows: 1700 x 1315 x 1155 mm. The trunk has a minimum volume of 226 liters. The folding rear seat backrest (in the expensive versions is divided) more than doubles it.  The safety of the Toyota Starlet P80 series since 1992 has been further enhanced. The car received a standard pilot seat belt warning light, equipped with side stiffeners in the doors. As an option, the ABS anti-lock braking system is offered, which is now complemented by the SRS driver airbag.

Starlet was considered quite successful in the Toyota lineup. Due to the low prices for the main car models, it became possible to produce the optimal number of cars. After restyling, Starlet did not have frankly cheap and weak carburetor versions. During the period of active import of right-hand drive used cars into our country, Starlet was noticeably inferior in popularity to the more capacious Corolla / Sprinter, but due to its economy, they easily found buyers. It can be noted simplicity and maintainability, maneuverability, but, being light and short, the car is less stable on the highway.
